Fort Smith's oldest Italian restaurant has weathered the influx of ubiquitous restaurant chains and emerged a strong survivor. Taliano's biggest asset is its charming location, specifically, the 1887 old Sparks mansion. Diners have the luxury of dining in the plush surroundings while feasting on grilled swordfish, grilled zucchini and button mushrooms, or one of the combination Italian pasta platters. Marble fireplaces and elegant chandeliers hark back to the 19th century and give the restaurant an air of grace that cannot be matched by even the best Olive Garden or Applebee's.
