There's no smoking in the main dining room, but wander over to the bar if you're looking for a place to take a drag or two. The Redwood Lodge Brew Pub boasts a collection of cigars and liquors that are said to be the finest in the Flint area. Primarily known for their steaks and prime ribs, they're also renowned for their beers and ales that are brewed on-site. If steak doesn't suit your appetite, there's also a wide variety of other chicken, fish and pork dishes to choose from. Generally it's good to get here early, as the dining room fills up quickly (especially on the weekends).

So-so
By creekbanjar on 07/10/2007
We've been to the Redwood Lodge a number of times for various reasons (frankly, it was never our decision).

Time and again we've scanned the menu for something we might like, but we always strike out. Heck, you can't even get a regular old salad here--it has to be a "Redwood salad," which means bitter leaves doused with stinky bleu cheese and vinaigrette.

The highlight of the menu would be their pizzas, but they are too pricey for what they are, and I could never bring myself to spend my own money on one.

As a person who loves good food, from hot dog stands to five-star restaurants, I have travelled the country, writing up restaurant reviews for travel publications. The fact that Redwood is considered one of the best places in the Flint "metro area" only serves to tell you how crappy dining is in Flint (heck, all of Genesee County for that matter).

Looking for a great place to eat? Head south on I-75 and see what's cooking where competition forces restaurants to do it right or fail.

Cheers
By daylily93 on 06/17/2007
Redwood is my Cheers. Good place for lunch, after work with the gang, or family dinners. Beer to suit any taste, from stouts to light germans to belgians. Never had a bad meal there, been there probably at least 100 times over the years. Left my sunglasses and a folder there last week. It was there in the lost and found the next day. They go the extra mile. Thank you Redwood staff!
