This brewpub is a favorite hangout for Michigan Tech faculty and students. Erected in 1899, this building has exposed brick walls and three huge steel beams running 28 feet above the bar. The dining room is all windows, with a view of the waterfront overlooking the portage. Cuisine is deli-style. Try the Epicurean sandwich, a cross between a roast beef and cheddar and a BLT; or the BK, made of ham, roast beef, mozzarella and Thousand Island dressing. The dinner menu features fresh fish and meat entrees. Be warned: students take over the bar after 11 p.m. -- James Guay
