Yes, it has won practically every award possible for its foliage-lush patio -- everyone's favorite summer brunch respite -- but chef/owner Pat Perry is about far more than just botanicals and wind chimes. While her patio is indeed stunning, it's her indelible artistry in the kitchen and two exquisite Victorian homes that she's painstakingly renovated, redecorated, and re-invented that make dining here such a memorable experience. Every room showcases its own personality, which means that you can dine downstairs amidst watercolors and flowery wall murals, upstairs in a private room embellished with a gas fireplace (there are five strewn throughout both houses) or in more modern, sunlit quarters in the rear of the second home. Over the years, the legendary Sunday brunch has come and gone, but it's now back with a vengeance, and the crowds clamor for the lobster benedict and vegetable tamales sided with a piquant red chili and crowned with yolky eggs. Perry's Sunday Supper, a three-course dinner for $26.50 person, is a convivial, come-as-you-are gathering for bargain hunters with expensive connoisseur tastes.

WOW (WOW)
By tyranusex on 06/13/2005
Beautifully restored Victorian home. Beautiful lush gardens (looks like Seattle in spring) and absolutely hands down the finest most innovative cuisine Denver has to offer. It is slightly loud because of the brick inside but the patio is quiet and intensely romantic. (if you want quiet and private, dine at home) Memorable meal, I'm totally addicted. The pheasant was above top notch and the bread pudding is the best I've ever had anywhere.

A Garden Oasis on 32nd

Highland's Garden Cafe is the inbodiment of what Highland Square has become. Nostalgic architecture with fresh innovative food, all served up in a semi-casual romantic/classy atmosphere. In other words eclectic grass roots elegance, served up with some of the most imaginative cuisine this side of the Platte. Fresh food, freh ideas, and in the summer fresh flowers.

This is an excellent restaurant for special type occasions. The prices are in the range of other similar quality restaurants. The crab cakes are outstanding. The main courses vary, but are excellent. This is one of my favorite restaurants for high quality food.
