Much like DaZa's just a few blocks away, Crustaceans New Orleans Cajun and Creole Cuisine is a product of the Greater Dallas Restaurant Association Deep Relief Project that offered months of free space and kitchen equipment to Katrina victims who wanted to bring some N'awlins flavor to Big D. Lucky for us, evacuees R.J. Honore and wife, Martha, decided to take advantage of the help and open their own Cajun/Creole spot in Deep Ellum. Crustaceans is located between the Green Room and Trees. The menu is big-time Big Easy and is chock full of things like fried alligator, stuffed-crab, crawfish etouffee and shrimp Creole. The specialty of the house is R.J.'s own version of "Crustaceans Pasta" served with bell peppers stuffed with shrimp, crabmeat and crawfish. The walls are splattered with vibrant colors and radiate an unmistakable New Orleans Mardi-Gras feel. Until they get their liquor license in three or four months, the Honores are happy to have you BYOB.

Authentic N'Awlins
By dvindal on 02/23/2008
I get a jones for this place once a month or so. It reminds me so much of New Orleans where I lived for 18 years. The food is great, pick anything. Spicy, but not too hot. Fried seafood is amazing. Just like back home..delicious and like nowhere else. Service kind of slow, so just get another drink and eat some more of that fantastic French bread, which they keep bringing. The poboys are first rate, especially the fried shrimp. Gumbo, good. The smothered pork chops with the okra are a creole soul food delite. I love this place. And as for you all bitchin about mama at the cash register....quit your griping or ...NO GUMBO FOR YOU!.

Crustaceans rude to potential
By raeshera on 02/10/2007
On 2/10/07 my daughter called Crustaceans to see what entrees they offered besides Seafood since she doesn't eat seafood. The woman that answered the phone said "everything" and hung up. I called back to ask her if she could give a general idea of the types of entrees she had other than seafood. She was extremely rude. She told me "I'll fax it to you. I can't tell you everything we have." I tried to ask her another question and she continued to talk over me making it clear that she didn't give a damn that I was a potential customer. My daughter called back to speak to a manager. The same woman answered the phone and said she did not want our business. Needless to say, I will never eat at Crustaceans. I will also tell all I know to avoid it.

By labare2dallas on 08/29/2006
i received a call on my cell phone from 214-747-0900 i was working & i didn't answer the call at that time due to being on a call myself & i know how to do good customer service. when i finished my call hit return call & judy answered. i asked where this was & who i was speaking with & very rudely she said"who is this" & i told her if she was a telemarketer to not call again. she was so rude & then hung up on me!!! i called back & she & a man answered together she over spoke the man. i asked to speak to a mgr & she said she was. i asked to speak to someone above her & she said there wasn't. told her that i had her about the rest. but if everone was as rude as her i wouldn't come & was told "we don't need your business" so. i work in a well known office with thousands of customers & employees!!! and i will post this to all of them. thanks judy & you have a good day!!!!
