There is something oddly Oriental about the decor of this French bistro. Though the menu boasts traditional French cuisine -- sauteed escargot, five-onion soup, roasted duck, leg of rabbit -- the black lacquered high-back chairs, black ceilings and touches of gold may remind you of a Chinese restaurant. Nevertheless, for more than a decade, Addison Cafe has been a local French favorite, drawing a well-heeled crowd for business lunches and romantic dinners. Its owners have beautifully transformed the strip-mall space with black and white awnings and a small rotunda on the exterior, and opulent fixtures, such as a large chandelier, just inside the door. Mirrored walls create the illusion of a space larger than it is. In reality, you'll be elbow to elbow with other guests; but you'll hardly mind. Service is attentive and unhurried, and the food tastes "tres bon." -- Allison Hatfield
