From the Editors

On any given sunny day in Dallas you can see clusters of visitors gathered in Dealey Plaza. Even though it's situated in one of downtown Dallas' most bustling areas, the scene is eerily still. The visitors speak in whispers, and the noise from the nearby traffic seems more hushed than usual.

Dealey Plaza will be forever remembered as the area where onlookers watched in horror as President John F. Kennedy was assassinated on Nov. 22, 1963. Adorned with impressive limestone monuments and shaded by Texas live oak trees, the area today remains fundamentally unchanged. Located between Main and Commerce Streets in the historic West End, the statue of Dealey is its centerpiece, complemented by a small reflecting pool a few yards away. Behind the structures is the open field area that faces the infamous grassy knoll.

Whether you believe Oswald acted alone or you firmly believe in the gunman-on-the-grassy-knoll theory, a stroll through Dealey Plaza is a solemn reminder of a devastating event that changed the course of American history.
