The Dallas Museum of Art is the city's most important art venue. Its permanent collection includes Asian, African, contemporary and Indonesian art, as well as holdings in photography, pre-Columbian, Impressionist and Post-Impressionist European art. The sculpture collection, including pieces by Henry Moore and Auguste Rodin, is particularly impressive and displayed indoors and outdoors. Another unusual installation is a replica of a French villa that houses the Reves Collection. It includes works by Renoir, Van Gogh, Gauguin, Cezanne and Degas, as well as furniture, ceramics and decorative arts. The DMA is also a regular stop for major traveling exhibitions. Spend some time in the museum store before you go. -- Kathryn Jones
