It's hard to believe, judging by the freshness of the entrees and excellent service, that Water Street Seafood is a chain of stores that stretches through the heart of Texas. The Corpus Christi location is the original, though, and arguably the best. While appetizers the likes of picayune shrimp and batter-fried calamari earn mixed reviews, the main courses -- truly excellent sea fare like grilled or blackened snapper and shrimp enchiladas -- are consistent crowd-pleasers. For a change of pace, visit the Oyster Bar next door to enjoy a hipper decor and some deep-sea critters on the half shell.
