Part goth theater, part pick-up pad, this replacement for Club Clau entered the Cincy nightclub scene in 2005 and has already filled the void for credit-card happy single twenty-somethings with no obligations and plenty of energy. Like its predessecor Clau, Purgatory features two rooms--each with a dance floor and their own DJs, plus a VIP area. The dcor is gothic, with door men looking more like cast members from Night of the Living Dead than bouncers, and a cast of house characters that add to the vibe. Cincy's Know Theater Tribe can be found here giving midnight performances occasionally on weekends, adding to the drama. This ain't your big sister's nightclub--forget cheesy pop tunes and Buffett-themed parties. This is a club for the serious party-going crowd where everyone is a VIP, drives a BMW and carries a gold AMEX.
