Apparently enough shoppers prayed to St. Jude, the patron saint of hopeless causes, and malls are expanding their dining options beyond Taco John's and Mrs. Field's. Papagus Oakbrook has the look and feel of a rustic old world-style taverna right in the middle of an upscale mall. The menu features traditional Greek cuisine with enough modern accents to attract jaded foodies as well as suburban shoppers. Amid the appetizers, the char-grilled octopus competes with the shrimp saganaki (baked spicy shrimp, feta cheese, tomatoes, leeks and lobster sauce) for attention. Tickle your taste buds with the Greek riff on pizza -- oven-baked, hand-rolled, unleavened, Mediterranean flatbread topped with fresh ingredients like eggplant, tomato, olives and feta cheese. Papagus' specialty is fresh seafood, purchased daily, simply presented and exceedingly good. Whole fish like moist red snapper, mild sea bass, delicate striped bass, and sweet Dover sole are priced by the pound, with each checking in at 1 -1 pounds. Toss the carnivores a shish kabob or braised lamb with orzo pasta. - Jacky Runice

Visit on Sunday 3/18 - Anniv.
By schallpower on 03/19/2007
While some of the other Oakbrook mall restaurants were packed on Sunday 3/18.07, and were rather upfront about there one hr. wait even with 10 people, the Cheese Cake Factory, is not able to take reservations. We walked over to Papagus and they took us in and what a delight. Have not been there in a few years and the food, service and factilities were great to outstanding. Boy, I am sure going to recommend this place. Great for anniversaries & birthdays, which we were celebrating. Mike & Denise.

Spent our 27th Anniversary
By marico810 on 05/26/2005
We just spent our anniversary there and we were so disappointed. The food is just so average. A greek restaurant like Greek Gardens or Costas is so much better tasting and with much better presentation. Our waitress NEVER once smiled at us. She seemed like she didn't want to be there. We were there at 5:30 on a Friday and it was pretty empty so she could not have been tired. We won't go back, not worth it. Did not feel welcome at all.

This is one you must visit sometime soon. I went years ago and I still remember it.
