Rate and Write a Review In Chicago, French food falls in two categories: all flash or all class. In the 'burbs, however, they tend to do things on the classier side when it comes to French fare, and Mark Grosz's Oceanique is no exception. Set in a charming 1920s Spanish-style building, this eclectic seafood restaurant takes on a French-American style in such signature dishes as the pan-roasted black sea bass, fresh Maine lobster steamed with pea tips, or the blue fin tuna seared with crushed black pepper. Oceanique's menu changes daily, and in addition to fresh seafood choices, diners may delight in non-seafood items like the fresh lamb from Australia or a roasted rack of venison. For an extra special touch, go for Grosz's six-course tasting menu (for $60 per person), which includes such nibblers as day boat sea scallops, turbot and shrimp saute, and pan-roasted duck with mission figs and black currants. For dessert, try the irresistible Day and Night cake, a rum-enhanced dark chocolate cake layered with creme fraiche chantilly cream and covered with light chocolate ganache. On a budget? Monday through Friday diners can take advantage of a special three-course dinner featuring some of Grosz's best bets. -- Audarshia Townsend
