Manny's is the quintessential deli: noisy, big and loaded with people of all flavors. This place is heavenly bliss for the fur-coat, no-coat and poly-coat sets alike. Grab a plastic tray (shake off the water from the dishwasher) and head down the food-service line. From steam table to soft drinks, it's loaded with more seduction than a romance novel. The chicken soup with matzo ball or kreplach is one of the best in town. Corned beef, chopped liver, tongue, brisket and pastrami barely make a dent in the sandwich selection. Daily specials will take you to deli nirvana. Oxtail stew, gefilte fish, beef stew, liver and onions, meatloaf... the selection is amazing, and it all tastes great. Manny's makes some of the best potato pancakes around, too.

The corned beef/pastrami combo with a potato pancake expertly flipped on the plate by all league counterman Geno is as good as it gets. New York's Stage and Carniege Delis come close, but Manny's is incomparable. Don't forget to wash it down with Dr. Brown's black cherry.

I have been to Manny's a few times over the years, usually tried to have something different, and I have never had anything that could be described as Excellent.

I have worked in a jewish deli for 10 years in the western suburbs and Mannys is closest to having the same authentisity of flavor in the meats(corned beef and hot pastrami),not to mention the kreplach and matzo ball soup.Truly the best deli food in the chicagoland area.
