Housed in a one-story green brick building, Jane's may be one of the most quaint, romantic date places in the city. Call ahead to request one of the two "tables for two" in the front windows, but don't fret if they're already taken -- every seat in the house is sweetly decorated with fresh flowers and tea lights, casting an aura of romance throughout the room. The knowledgeable wait staff is at your beck and call, eager to provide their opinions on the best dishes and wine. The menu changes a bit seasonally, but you'll usually find a scrumptious salad with mesclun greens, pears, candied walnuts and blue cheese. The rare tuna in a flour tortilla is a popular appetizer, and the goat cheese-stuffed chicken comes highly recommended. Gourmet burgers and sandwiches round out the menu, but leave room for some creme brulee or a turtle brownie for dessert. Arrive early on the weekends for brunch because Jane's gets crowded quickly, and there is not a ton of space to wait at the bar.
