For Cubs fans in Chicago, the great Hall of Fame baseball announcer's eponymous restaurant is the next best thing to Wrigley Field. The two-level venue (find locations also in Rosemont and Midway Airport) serves as an upscale Italian steakhouse, sports bar and museum, which features memorable moments in Harry Caray's spectacular career. You'll say 'Holy Cow!' (Harry's world-famous catchphrase) when you see this sprawling spot that's a popular destination for locals as well as out-of-town visitors. Harry's most recognizable trademark -- the giant pair of black-rimmed glasses -- is displayed in a secure glass case. Customers can also view the numerous awards he received throughout his 53 years of broadcasting, including his microphone from KMOX, his Hall of Fame ring and lifetime pass. In the foyer is a life-size white bronze bust of Harry, made from the same mold as the statue outside of Wrigley Field. In Harry's honor, sculptors Omri Amrany and Lou Cella mixed his favorite brand of beer, Budweiser, in with the mold. The menu features a variety of dishes from prime, aged steaks and chops to Italian specialty entrees to fresh seafood. House specialties include chicken Vesuvio and the New York sirloin steak, peppercorn style. Harry Caray's also offers an extensive lunch menu packed with Italian favorites, as well as fresh salads and hearty sandwiches. Complementing the cuisine is an award-winning wine list, which Wine Spectator has recognized for its outstanding quality each year since 1989. After dinner, stroll on over to the merchandise shop where you can take home a Harry souvenir. Popular buys include pint glasses (with Harry's mug on it, of course), a cookbook, a Harry 'bobble head' doll and plenty of T-shirts.

Fun, and top notch
By dvelopr on 02/20/2007
this is a complete experience...it's in a convenient, central location, and the building has this fabulous, unique architecture charm, inside and out. the place is fun, but the food is first rate and the service is attentive. steaks are really excellent. the bar is fun, too. no wonder its been one of the top places in the City for almost 20 years. they also have a place in Rosemont, right by O'Hare Airport, with the same great food.
