Widely touted as one of Chicago's most romantic restaurants, Geja's has been under the ownership of John Davis since 1965, evolving over time into the city's premier fondue restaurant. Use all of the cliches you want to describe Geja's romantic appeal -- it's dimly lit, intimate, cozy -- but don't come to a fondue restaurant without expecting a little cheesiness. Exposed brick, old dark wood and low ceilings heighten the effect, as does live Spanish classical guitar and flamenco. Eating is simple: dip stuff into chocolate, cheese or oil. Seating can be complicated: reservations are taken Sunday through Thursday at 5PM, on Friday at 6PM and on Saturday at 5PM. Guests wishing to eat on the weekend at a time acceptable to non-nonagenarians are invited to sit at the bar and load up on wine, or leave their cell phone numbers (this is Lincoln Park -- it's assumed) and wander off, holding hands, into the night.

Geja's.....better than Gaydar
By LittleGTO67 on 06/06/2008
This is the place to determine whether you are dating a gay man or not. If he is indeed gay, he will not be able to stand it, because the aroma of the food and cooking oils is heavy, tends to linger in the atmosphere and on your clothing even after you leave.......and no gay man can handle it! As for MY personal review....LOVE IT! Great food, great romantic atmosphere.....love the gruyere cheese fondue with assorted fruits and breads, and the dessert chocolate fondue is orgasmic!

Valentines Night Walked In - Walked Out
By RICKLARA317 on 05/23/2008
I was looking on the web for a great romantic restaurant for this weekend to enjoy with my wife. When I saw Geja's come up I could only laugh! Years ago I had made reservations for V-Day. I thought I was "all that" having secured a reservation at the "most romantic eatery in Chicago" on Valentines Day no less!!" Was all excited about it. Had heard great things. From the moment we entered the restaurant we were disappointed. It was smokey, it stank, it was packed like sardines, our reservation had been "lost." Romantic?? Say what!?!?! We sat at the bar and was going to wait, but within a few minutes, we had had enough! Walked out and will never go back! Had a very nice time at a nice French restaurant that evening. I am glad to see that so many others share the same thoughts! SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!! This place "stinks!" I couldn't figure out how to give no stars, so I had to select one star.

i'm honestly shocked by all these bad reviews. Geja's is my favorite, and each time I've been there I've enjoyed it more than the last. I love this Cafe.

Geja's is complex - My girlfriend gets so darn HOT every time we go to the cafe, apparently, to her romance is all about going down under, great wine, the fantastic cheese served in the bar and the HOT oil all coupled together. Somehow the place heightens her passionate side. It does it every time, whatever.. She begs to return every time we visit the city, Also, ask to be seated in one of their private booths, a must. What can I say, Geja's is like...Spanish Fly,. For obivious reasons, I love the place and my palate especially loves the succulent aftertaste of the fondue!
