As Lincoln Square continues to rack up on trendy, upscale eateries, it's refreshing to know that more budget-conscious spots still remain in the mix. There's of course, the 'hood hangout Daily Bar, known for its sandwiches, soups and simple American fare, and the German classic Chicago Brahaus. But for those in need of late-night noshing, Garcia's fits the bill. Open until 4AM on weekends, the no-frills Mexican eatery serves up typical inexpensive food, including enchiladas, tacos, nachos and burritos. The burritos here, according to regulars, can roll with the big boys of after-hours eats -- El Presidente and Taco & Burrito House. Wash it all down with a margarita or a specialty fruit shake that comes in mango, papaya, coconut and pineapple flavors, to name a few.

Bad service from LUZ cashier/w
By jmoyblack22 on 07/12/2007
I frequent Garcia's restaurant on a regular basis and the food is good except for the Two Times that one of the manager's/cashier named LUZ waited on my friends and I. The first bad experience I had with LUZ was when I ordered two carry out taco dinners I specifically requested that my two 3 taco dinners please be placed in dinner boxes, but when I arrived, all of the tacos were wrapped up and stuck together in wax paper and aluminum foil. So I told her that I requested that the tacos be put in a dinner box. LUZ replied in a RUDE manner that I have to ask for them that way, I replied that I did order them that way, and she refused to redo my order. Second Bad experience from LUZ....She was covering the table that my son and I were having lunch at and I ordered some French Fries with my dinner and they came late to the table and they were saturated in oil and cold as if they were double fried in little broken up pieces. So I asked if she could have the cook remake the french fries because they were unacceptable. Well, to my surprise LUZ said in a RUDE manner "That's All We Have!!" and refused to even return the fries to the cook to show him and walked away. Well I have Never seen anyone So Unprofessional and RUDE, so I called her over to the table and told her how I felt to no avail....I said that if Oscar was here I would never be treated like this, she said well I'm Oscars mom, and I replied it doesn't matter that you're his mom, you should Know Better than to treat customers as rude as you do and that if a customer is unhappy with a food order as small and trivial as an order of fries, you should apologize and agree to remake them and not just reply "That's All We Have!!" I have been patronizing Garcia's for many years and have alway's felt welcome from the Owner, Oscar, Rigo and Lenny when he worked there.....But after my Two bad Experiences with LUZ I don't see myself returning to Garcia's Because of LUZ's RUDE and Unprofessional Behavior.

Best Burritos I ever had!
By jsproduce on 02/15/2007
I am very picky when it comes to quality. I do not like chewy or fatty meat and will not eat it, but I've never been disappointed when it came to getting a Burrito at Garcia's. They have the best Burritos I've tasted in Chicago. Every time I go somewhere else it is not even relatively close to the quality and taste I find at Garcia's. ENJOY!

By bifocalb on 02/15/2007
You all have got to be kidding! Every time I have ever eaten at Garcias I get diarrhea! Salty & chewy meat in the tacos and burritos, and the ambiance of the actual restaurant is cold and dirty! Gross!

Best Mexican Food In Chicago
By planet3myrna on 01/05/2007
This place is great, located Western / Lawrence, the food is great and the price are reasonable. If you have $10 you can get yourself a great meal with a drink. If you have not been to Garcias try it out and bet you ... "you will be back"....
