Rate and Write a Review On the cul-de-sac where Erie Street meets the Chicago River sits a casually elegant, club-style steakhouse called -- surprise -- the Erie Cafe. The classic Chicago steakhouse opened in 1994 in this attractive stone building in River North. The large picture windows are draped in floral chintz, and exposed brick and high cedar ceilings make the dining room warm yet stylish for a capacity crowd of 380. This family-owned restaurant serves sizable portions of prime aged steaks, chops and seafood dishes. One tasty appetizer you'll find every day is fried ravioli with blue cheese, but the prime rib of beef and lasagna entree are specials only offered on weekends. House specialties available daily as a main course include Chicken Vesuvio or Beef en Brochette. From May to November, there's an outdoor patio alongside the river. The restaurant also has a banquet room with bar, dance floor and wood-burning fireplace to warm up your special occasion. -- Jenn Q. Goddu
