More than 85 years after The Drake was erected on the Magnificent Mile, the dream steakhouse of the venerable hotel's original owners finally emerges. Drake Bros. Steaks - Chicago is named in honor of Drake brothers John B. and Tracy C., and its concept carries out their plan for a classic steakhouse with panoramic views of both Lake Michigan and the Mag Mile. Housed in the former Oak Terrace Restaurant -- which desperately needed updating -- Drake Bros. tastefully blends classic and contemporary accents. The menu showcases an extensive lineup of USDA prime steaks, including a Porterhouse, rib eye, filet and NY strip along with lamb, pork and veal dishes. For those with seriously healthy appetites, a classic prime rib carving station will be available on weekend evenings. And for seafood lovers, select from a seared Ahi tuna with cilantro and tropical fruit salsa or grilled swordfish served with mango and onion chutney. Signature appetizers include the Drake Bros. combination (duck, shrimp and papaya Waldmeier) and retro-inspired dishes such as Escargot a la Bourguignon and steak tartare. For lunch, try the generous healthy salads, light tea sandwiches or several named sandwiches such as the ''John B'' and the ''Tracy C.''

Marvelous
By cabsauv1 on 03/22/2006
I had the pleasure of having a meal on March 15, 2006. I had a half portion of osyters on the half shell. I have never had larger or more fresh. This was followed by lobster with a wonderful white wine. The service was wonderful. I was celebrating my birthday alone and the staff made the time go smoothly. I was treated with a chocolate cake and that too was fantastic. Looking out over the park watching the lights go by was just what I needed; time to think and wonder. Thank you for a great time. I recommend it most highly.

Though not crowded, our dinner as excellent. Our wait person was knowledgable about the menu and made excellent recommendations. Nice setting for a quiet but delicious dinner. We will enjoy dining at the Drake again the next time we are in Chicago.

I am so happy to hear about the restaurant and thought the write up was nice, but I would love to be able to view the menu like many other restaurants make available. Thank you!
