There's a certain something about tapas that inspires lively conversation -- at least, that's the conclusion you'll draw after a visit to boisterous Cafe Iberico. Clusters of friends congregate in the narrow entryway, and each of the larger dining rooms buzzes with constant energy and chatter. The wait can be long, especially on weekends, but like leisure-loving Spain, the atmosphere in Iberico makes downtime one of the best aspects of your evening. You'll have no trouble passing the time with a pitcher of the red or white sangria -- both arrive filled to the brim with blended liquors and freshly cut fruits. Dining on tapas offers patrons an opportunity to try lots of foods, so even though Iberico offers paella and other main courses, go for the tapas. They're especially affordable here. Bring a group -- this place was made for them -- and order a mixture of hot and cold dishes. Try tortilla espanola, a standby served cold that combines eggs and potatoes into a surprisingly addictive dish. Baked goat cheese with bread and tomatoes is comfort food Mediterranean-style, and the Iberian ham with manchego cheese satisfies lovers of the salty meat, a Spanish favorite. Garlic complements grilled mushrooms and potato salad without overwhelming. If you have room, sample the creamy flan for dessert.

The Real Deal
By Aldohealth on 06/06/2008
I lived in Spain nine years and if you ever wanted to try the food without the expense of going there, this is the place. If I close my eyes it is like being teleported back. Despite expanding 3-4 times since opening in, 1991 I think it was the place still gets packed but I've always had a great time there.

Great food, Horrible Service!
By emerson123 on 02/22/2007
I've been to Cafe Iberico on several diffent occasions and was prepared for the wait, but when our party waited for 2+ hours and didn't get seated, we had to leave because we were late for our other plans! People behind us in line were being seated before us, and the staff was unapologetic about accidentally crossing us off their list and did nothing to make amends! If you want to eat here, get there at least 2 hours before you want to be seated, and bring snacks! The food is great, and reasonalbly priced, but it would be wonderful if they took reservations!

Do Not Go
By lucanwife on 11/06/2006
Do Not Go, It is acomplete waste of time and money. The only thing that was good was the cost, CHEAP. The wait was long, the service the worst, and the food had no flavor. DO NOT GO PLEASE!!!

Go for the sangria
By melbee on 10/30/2006
This is one of few tapas restaurants open for lunch. The red sangria is great and the food is good. Very laid back restaurant with plenty of tapas choices.
