With the glamorous Bella Lounge, Todd Bordenaro (Blyss, Bordo's, Green Room), Jeff Laporte (Bordo's) and Kwesi Dei (former VIP doorman at Green Room, Funky Buddha Lounge, Rednofive) try to reverse 'the curse' of this space. This collective of longtime club folks sets up shop in the Gold Coast with an upscale eatery and lounge. The former home to The State Room and 1212 now feels like a high roller's dream, offering hearty fare, delicious sounds, plasma screens, willowy female staffers and enough posh seating to satisfy royalty. The loft-like lounge features about 60 seats for dining and three main bars, including one in the lower-level ''limo'' lounge. Bella Lounge's menu, prepared by former Narcisse chef Brian Jupiter, caters to a late-night crowd: barbecue duck flatbread (with caramelized shallots and smoked mozzarella), filet mignon burger with sage fries, and turkey meatloaf with roasted garlic potato puree. DJs spin uptempo, sexy tunes Thursday through Saturday.

What a fantastic place to eat, drink, and meet people! I had one of the best times I have everhad in Chicago at this extremely hip lounge. I cannot wait to go back!

I like Bella

My husband and I live down the street and go to Bella Lounge often. We've found the staff to be friendly and the food very good. We hope it stays in business as it's a great place to relax and watch sports with its big TV screens and relaxing bar areas.

Will Never Go Back to Bella Lounge
By utamhane on 01/24/2005
I mistakenly chose this place for my 29th birthday celebration. We made reservations several days in advance but were still forced to wait two hours for our table. Nobody apologized, even though we weren't seated for dinner until 11pm. One of my friends didn't get his dinner until after the rest of us had finished eating. If all of that wasn't bad enough, the staff asked us to vacate the table immediately after we settled our bill and would not even let us finish our drinks! I was shocked by how impolite the staff was even though we had just given their establishment a ton of business. When we tried to finish our drinks, a bouncer told our party of thirteen to leave and “not come back.” My group, consisting of several young Chicago area doctors and attorneys, is curious how long Bella can survive with such a callous attitude towards its customers. We will certainly spread the word amongst our friends about the horrendous experience we had.
