Rate and Write a Review Jamie Mammano is on a roll. Instead of resting on the laurels of Mistral, the highly praised French restaurant that whisks you -- and your palate -- away to a lush French estate, he opened Teatro, an Italian restaurant overlooking the Boston Common. The buzz around both those eateries still hasn't worn off in the years they've been open, yet still he goes and creates yet another mouth-watering luxe depot to please his devotees. Those who havent supped in Mistral or Teatro will do themselves a service in making Sorellina their introduction to Mammanos universe. The restaurant, located in the former digs of Salamander, has a breathtaking interior that gives nods to both Gothic charm and top-shelf Euro class. A giant light box with an austere black and white image of trees provides a stunning backdrop to white leather seats, dimly-lit tables and soaring ceilings. The menu, of course, is just as striking. The kitchen has weaves traditional Italian cooking with delicate touches borrowed from other corners of the European Union. Start off with the tuna tartar, a colossal hunk of raw fish finished off with a dried fruit and homemade mustard sauce. The entrees defy the tapas trend, arriving in hefty portions like the Macheroncelli, a heaping plate of pasta loaded with Kobe beef meatballs or the monkfish, prepared Piccata-style with Mediterranean vegetable ragout, each plate as well manicured as the soaring trees and plants rendered on the walls.
