Gone is the LED overload and bipolar menu of 33's original incarnation, replaced by warmer decor and New American cuisine from Aujourd'hui alumnus Anthony Dawodu. Whereas one's entry was formerly accompanied by the kind of pyrotechnics one expects of an upscale disco, 33 has confined its light show to the lounge and pared down the upstairs to emphasize its sleek lines and exposed brick. Perspex-framed prints by local photographers line the walls, importing the aura of a SoHo gallery to the once-overdesigned dining room. Unchanged is the outdoor patio, which presents one of the Back Bay's best options for alfresco dining. The seasonally changing menu reflects the chef's facility for infusing regional ingredients with international elan, presenting Atlantic salmon on a bed of roasted figs and celery root-eggplant puree and dressing up penne Milanese with morsels of lobster meat. New, too, is a Saturday and Sunday brunch emphasizing expertly prepared comfort foods including French toast (made with brioche), Belgian waffles (laden with berries and fresh whipped cream) and bagels with cream cheese and smoked salmon.

Very good restaurant, Great bar/lounge/dance club! Everything is very chic and at the same time the atmosphere is very down to earth. Hang out for most beautiful people in Boston!

Worst Experience Ever
By purplelotus69 on 10/20/2006
Long story short - my husband and I went to dinner with 4 friends. We got a limo and reservations at 33 for 8:30 last Saturday night and we were seated quickly. The feed us drinks and more drinks, however they do not feed us food. We had to beg for more bread and our salads (which came at 10:15). We spoke to 4 people about the service. Our server said "I'm serving you, you all have drinks", we needed food. We were promised free dessert which we asked to have right then and there because we couldn't wait for dinner anymore. Around 10:30 we got up and left. We ended up at Bertucci's next door and they fed us within 5 minutes of sitting down, we should have gone there in the first place.

Incredible!
By slogypi on 06/17/2005
An amazing menu full of delightful and delicious surprises. The beef tenderloin dish was incredible. The crab cake appetizer and macaroni and cheese side dish were also specatcular! The color-changing bar acts as the centerpieceof the interior space. Definitely worth a visit!

a special meal
By iwab01 on 02/18/2005
For us, this is a special event dining experience. The food is wonderful. The service can be slow but when I'm having a pricey meal, I hate to be rushed so it works.I have paid similar costs for meals that were disappointing but not here. The chef's special of the evening is perfect. If you don't want to eat while looking at the bar crowd, finish dinner by 10:30 and you just might decide to linger. The lighting is trendy, but not bright so it works for romance and conversation. Ask for a corner table or the side room if you're with a special someone.
