Housed in a red brick building that was once Firehouse Number 5, Number Five Restaurant has been a culinary hot spot for more than 20 years. Providing a fine dining experience, this restaurant, known for good service, offers veal, chicken and more from $16.95-$24. Try the Greek Tenderloin, prepared with garlic butter, oregano and lemon. And give your meal the proper ending with one of their scrumptious homemade desserts. The Number Five caters mostly to businesspeople during lunch, and it's a great place for an intimate Saturday night date or a small get- together with friends.

not all it is cracked up to be

The food is generally good. I like the French onion soup. Service is really not so hot, servers tend to forget about you until it is time for their tip, then they cannot wait to get you out the door, and at the prices they charge they REALLY need to pay more attention to customers than they do.

Good food, but!

The food has never let me down. It's great!. I just don't like being a "Sardine" when I sit down to eat. Yes, over priced for Binghamton too.

overrated but ok
By mhorne1983 on 07/01/2007
To start off, I'm not a native to Binghamton and have been all over and eaten at many fine restaurants, so I'm not some local yokel complaining about prices. But Number 5 is an overrated and overpriced restaurant with a menu that has to be at least 15 years old, I would have loved to have seen at least one modern and innovative dish. Overall, yes, the food is ok to good. But this is a mediocre steakhouse masquerading as fine dining. The dark and almost depressing atmosphere reminded me of someplace my grandparents would have gone to. So will you be disappointed? Maybe, maybe not. The food and service are ok, but I could do without the fine dining posing, cause it just doesn't stand up to it.
