Let New York City have its $20 burgers. There's no reason for Charm City carnivores to feel inferior, not with the gargantuan Chubby Burger available at Chubby's Grill in Perry Hall. Blink and you'll miss this Belair Road carryout/eatery in an unpretentious brick storefront just north of Ebeneezer Road. The portions here take a hint from the name, and the beefy, two-pound monstrosity -- topped with pit ham, bacon, cheddar jack cheese, onions, mushrooms, green peppers and the requisite lettuce and tomato -- is worth every bit of its $19.95 price tag (finish it and get your photo on the establishment's wall of fame). Chubby's also hustles out plenty of subs, club wraps, sandwiches and pizza on grilled dough. Few sub shops boast such a selection of appetizers -- crab bruschetta, huge beer-battered onion rings, shrimp scampi in a bread boat and ballpark pretzels that come in seafood, pepperoni pizza or Buffalo chicken varieties. Nor do most places offer three variations on the Reuben -- Chesapeake seafood style, turkey (for the calorie conscious) or traditional New York. Wings, ribs, salads, stuffed rockfish, stuffed steak, pasta and comfort favorites such as hot roast beef are also available. If you don't feel plump enough after polishing off your mega meal, squeeze in a battered and deep-fried Oreo cookie -- though the cinnamon sugar and whipped cream on top might push you over the edge. -- Pete Kerzel
