Emo's Austin Ltd   

If alternative music is your thing, Emo's is one of the best places in Austin to experience it. Though it's the frequent haunt of the tattooed, dyed-hair set, Emo's position between the Sixth Street and Red River scenes has ensured a fairly diverse, not to mention, dense crowd of clubgoers. There are two stages, one indoor and one out, and a beer garden. The psychotic cartoon art and intimidating staff create a sort of classic punk-rock atmosphere, but at Emo's it's all about the music. And from hard-core to alt-country, Emo's has it all. It has played host over the years to such acts as the Jesus Lizard, Mudhoney, Tortoise and Don Walser (who used to do a weekly gig). Emo's was once famed for its cheap cover charges, but as the quality of the bands it books has risen, so has the price to get in.
