A long time ago, Clifford Antone dreamed of a club that featured the best blues musicians from around the world playing their hearts out night after night for the citizens of Austin. He was even known to take in and support wayward musicians. When Antone's opened its doors, his dream came true. The club has featured such notables as Muddy Waters, B.B. King, Buddy Guy and the patron saint of Austin blues, Stevie Ray Vaughan. To this day, Antone's remains one of the premier places on the Third Coast to see live music. Although it doesn't strictly stick to blues anymore, its atmosphere is still reminiscent of a classic blues joint -- albeit one with a huge dance floor, two big bars in the back and a kicking sound system. If you have the blues when you arrive, chances are you won't when you leave.
