With all of the mass-produced, feel-good Italian chain restaurants in the suburbs, it's somewhat daunting to find an authentic Mediterranean experience. However, Sugo in Roswell brings fresh, homemade Greek and Italian dishes to Metro Atlanta. Owned by Frederico Castellucci, former Roasted Garlic co-owner, Sugo's rustic cranberry colored walls and comfy mismatched chairs are reminiscent of a small, inexpensive Roman bistro. A big part of the atmosphere is provided by "Mr. C," who works the crowd every night, telling stories and sharing ingredients from popular dishes such as Eggplant Montasio in his boisterous New Jersey accent. Castellucci does the cooking, creating all the dishes from scratch. The menu includes tapas, "contorni" (side dishes) and entrees as well as a selection of quality olive oils and artisan cheeses and wines. He also offers daily specials created on a whim and falling somewhere in the area of Mediterranean cuisine, be it Italian, Greek or Spanish. When you're at Sugo, you may not be family, but Mr. C definitely treats you like a friend.

Pay your help

These RI owners fail to pay the 15-17 yrs old who work hard to bus tables. They should be ashamed the way they cheat kids out of hours and fail to track hours properly.

Just like the old country! On this side of the big pond!

Forgetta 'bout that American-ized Italian stuff you can get just about anywhere... if you want to know how home-cooked meals for special guests are prepared in Italy... go to Sugo... and make a feast of it... the hospitality is genuine, the food is exquisite… the staff, most pleasant. It’s all about the sauce (and it ain't the same ol' red-sauce)... where every meal is an architectural wonder... the master chef and proprietor.. a master of his domain, and his lovely bride to great you… New York style! Fresh, unique, and special imported ingredients make every bite of their tapas and entree’s something to savor. Order from the special's of the night... they aren't "everyday specials", they change.... whenever there's something new... that's what I go for... though I have plenty of old favorites... Mr. C. has even provided his recipe for his braciole... which I have now personally prepared on 3 different occasions, each time a smash hit at our dinner parties. I live in Michigan, but visit Atlanta frequently, and I never miss an opportunity to visit Mr. & Mrs C for dinner…. And as a traveler… I’ve turned many of colleague to the Sugo… and they’ve all thanks me over and over for the fine suggestion. This is not your typical Italian…so... buon appetito e mangia bene

Honestly the food was delicious, but the ambience made the experience. The Castellucci family welcomed us into their familia with open arms. With an excellent wine and cheese selection it was a great place to take my date and she was impressed by the elegant atmosphere. I even got to walk away with most of my money still in my wallet. Molte grazie
