Smith's Olde Bar seems to be an unlikely source for some of the city's best barbecue, but until Fox Bros. BBQ opens up their own joint, the live music venue is the only place in town to get their pulled pork, ribs and brisket. While most barbecue lovers would be suspicious of a barbecue establishment that serves up both pulled pork and brisket, Fox Bros. pull it off without a hitch. Smoked chicken, turkey and wings are available for poultry lovers. All of the slow-smoked meats are cooked in a pit with oak, hickory, or pecan wood. While all too often side dishes seem mere afterthoughts that pale into comparison to the barbecue, this is not the case with Fox Bros. From the mac-and-cheese to the slow-cooked collard greens and green beans with tomatoes and potatoes, these sides are worth saving room for. COMING IN APRIL 2007: Fox Bros. BBQ will be branching out from Smith's Olde Bar and opening a new location at 1238 Dekalb Ave. Check back soon for more details.

We loved the blend of southern barbecue with the Texas brand. Mostly we enjoyed the brisket! You can get pulled pork anywhere in Atlanta, but everybody knows that slow-smoked brisket is pure 'd' Texas. The Fox Bros. got this one right, for sure. Great sides - the "Tommynator" RULES! Banana pudding better than your mama made! They have a great restaurant of their own at 1238 DeKalb Ave. Fun atmosphere - with lots of outdoor seating. A++ Guys!
