Atlanta's most prominent permanent fixture as host of the '96 Olympic Games, this downtown jewel provides a wonderful venue for a picnic, stroll, free concert, or a reminder of a spectacular time in our city's life. Don't miss the Fountain of Rings from which water surges and shoots, much to the delight of the city's children, who romp among the drops and bursts of water. In the last five years, a good soaking in the fountain has become one of Atlanta's summer rites of passage -- and a great way to beat the heat. Four times a day (12:30PM, 3:30PM, 6:30PM and 9PM), the water dances to synchronized music and sound effects -- an experience that never fails to impress. Areas of green open space are linked by walks and terraces, many of which are paved with personalized bricks purchased by people all over the world to help finance the 1996 Games. Often times, a special event can be found going on in the park including musical concerts and fascinating urban art exhibits, like the Quilt of Remembrance.
