From the Editors

Atlanta can't officially usher in spring without the Dogwood Festival, a local rite of the season that celebrates both the city's natural beauty and its most talented artists. More than 200 painters, potters, sculptors and photographers will be on hand. The youngest artists can showcase their budding creativity in the Kid's Village, and then work off all extra energy on the huge inflatables and 24-foot rock-climbing wall. Even the animals will be getting into the action as the Dogwood Festival presents the U.S. Disc Dog Southern Nationals, the world's biggest Frisbee dog event.

One-day fundraiser:Party with a Purpose on April 14, from 6-9PM, Dogwood as festival-lovers can help support the cause at the second annual Rhythm & Blooms party in The Meadow at Piedmont Park. This year's event, which is themed 'Fabulous and Funky,' will feature complimentary food from Atlanta's top chefs, as well as live music. Tickets to this event are $100 per person and proceeds benefit the festival.

Tips
Parking: Prime parking can be found along 10th Street between Piedmont Avenue and Monroe Drive; however, most of those spots go fast. Explore the side streets off of 10th for additional spaces.
You can pay to park at the Park Tavern located at the corner of 10th Street and Monroe Drive or at one of the lots along Peachtree Street. Police will be ticketing and towing illegally parked cars, so either take MARTA for parking tips.
Options: Another transportation option is MARTA. A free shuttle will be operating between the Arts Center station and the park. Bicycle racks will also be available at various entrances.
Extras: The weather can be warm so be sure to bring plenty of water. Lawn chairs, picnic blankets and sunscreen are also recommended.
No Pets: Per a new City of Atlanta ordinance, and for safety reasons, no pets will be allowed in the park during festival hours. This ban does NOT apply to service animals for disabled persons, canines that are pre-registered for the ADF competition, or the off-leash dog area.

What's Next: Step into one of Atlanta's oldest institutions, Atkins Park Restaurant or eat like an investment banker at Morton's of Chicago. -- Stephanie Watson
