Lucille’s is the only place in the Johnstown area where you can dance into the early morning to continuous house and techno music spun by DJ Pasty Ramsey. Though it caters primarily to the gay and lesbian community, the manager estimates about 20 percent of the bar’s patrons are heterosexual. Lucille’s draws mostly young singles looking to dance and have a cold beer with friends or a date. The bar is sectioned off into two separate bars, a dining room and a dance floor. It also has a large outdoor patio in the back that’s open during the summer. The decor resembles the busy interior of TGI Friday’s with its old road signs on the walls and shelves filled with toy collections. Saturday night drag shows are a popular fixture at Lucille’s. Queens can also compete for cash prizes at drag contests held on special occasions like Halloween and Mardi Gras.
